Hello,
I had the opportunity via the french staff at Honor (thanks again
) to be able to try the Honor X8 for a few days.
So here's what I think.
the Honor X8 is a low-mid range phone of very good quality, both perceived and real.
Aesthetically, its plastic back passes very easily for a glass surface.
Its only flaw (for me) is its ability to store fingerprints on my black version, it's terrible.
Its 6.7-inch screen with its very thin borders is super pleasant to use.
It feels like you only have the image in your hand when watching a video.
The first image is taken from my unboxing video: youtube link if you haven't seen it
I'm not a fan of video games but I sometimes play Asphalt from time to time and I was frankly amazed at the fluidity.
It must be said that with its refresh rate of 90Hz the Honor X8 can provide.
The Honor X8, as I had already written in my first impressions, is surprisingly light for a fairly large phone, only 177g for 163.4mm high and 74.7mm wide.
After several hours, it doesn't feel like a dead donkey at the end of the selfie stick
The battery (4000mAh) allows me to last barely more than a day, which is a change from my Honor 9A (5000mAh) which easily lasts two full days.
Waze, photos, music, internet browsing and videos are my main uses.
On the other hand, with its 22.5W fast recharge, it's only happiness, in 10 minutes you recover close to 20% autonomy.
it takes about an hour for the phone to be fully charged against 2:20 for the H9A (without fast charging), it changes your life.
I like the photo part.
As a reminder :
At the back we find the camera module, slightly protruding, with its 4 lenses.
A 64MP main lens
A 2MP macro lens
The 5MP super wide angle
A depth lens
The front camera is 16MP
I find modes that were absent on the H9A.
The difference between the two is slight in sunny conditions: see here the comparison photos
The night shot mode is pretty average for my taste, my old Honor 7 was much better.
Its camera with its dual-view mode is quite interesting for those who like to do vlogs.
The picture is clear and the sound is good.
I like its detection on photos, text, cats, flowers, historical buildings etc etc...
In conclusion, if I had to change phones, this X8 remains in the price range of what I can afford and I'm really won over.
Obviously there are some shortcomings that we can not deny but we are not on the high end either.
The - :
I totally advise against the black version if you are allergic to fingerprints, you spend your time cleaning it.
The fairly average night shot mode
The +
Lightness
Screen quality during viewing
Quality camera
GMS
For a sale price of 239€90 right now on the official French Honor website, it is a phone that should not be overlooked.
Honor also returns to what was its core market and it is to its credit.
