Are smartwatches really helpful while you're skiing?
Yes, smartwatches are helpful while you’re skiing.
Going skiing is an exhilarating experience at any level, but if you're really serious about it, you'll need to make yourself as aerodynamic as possible.
That means even having a smartphone in your pocket or on your arm could affect your performance.
So, if you want to keep a record of how well you're doing on the slopes, and share your data with family and friends, you're going to need a device that's both professional – having ski mode and even more lightweight and compact than a phone.
Honor * GS Pro may be just the ticket.
It's a pro-level * that features Skiing, Snowboarding, and Cross-country skiing modes.
1. Skiing and Snowboarding at Ski Resorts
Both of these modes can be easily accessed on the *, and monitor a wide range of detailed data.
Voice reminders
You don't want to keep having to remove your ski-wear to look at your * when you're on the slopes.
That's why the GS Pro comes with an HD speaker for voice reminders, which is a feature you won't get with similar products from Garmin or Suunto.
At the end of each run, when the * detects that you've entered a cable car, it will tell you the current time, your fitness and safety data including your skiing times and any abnormal heart rate or speed alerts.
No voice reminders will play during the run, for safety reasons.
You can also customize your voice reminders.
SpO2 sensor close at hand
Skiing is physically demanding, and those high altitudes can have an impact on your respiratory health.
A quick way to see how your body's coping is to measure your blood oxygen levels, and this is easy to do with the GS Pro.
Timely data syncing
All of your exercise records are synced to your phone's Health app, so you can measure your progress and share the runs you're proud of.
Your trails will also appear in the records, color-coded, to indicate skiing trails, cable rides, and other routes.
2. Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skiing is one of the world's oldest winter sports.
It originated in the Scandinavian countries, where it is still incredibly popular.
It requires climbing, skiing and sliding techniques, as well as good turning skills.
In Cross-country skiing mode, the HONOR * GS Pro can track your real-time fitness data, play voice reminders, and sync your data to the Health app, just like in Skiing and Snowboarding modes.
The data will vary though, as when you're cross-country skiing, you ski continually and count on your own locomotion to move uphill, rather than rely on cable rides and the other forms of assistance you'll find at ski resorts.
Smart and instant sharing
All of your skiing data is stored and grouped in the Health app.
