All you need to know about Petal Search
Petal Search and its "Find app" widget are new search systems that allow HUAWEI / HONOR smartphone users to search and find their solutions among more than 1 million apps and services, by accessing directly from the home screen of their device. It is extremely useful for all those users who have a HUAWEI or HONOR that only own the Huawei Mobile Service (HMS) such as HONOR 9X PRO, 9A and the HONOR 30 series or HUAWEI p40 series.
Where to find Petal Search and its features
Petal Search can be simply downloaded from Huawei AppGallery and once installed it integrates perfectly with all the features of your smartphone.
It consists of 3 main commands:
For you, a dedicated news feed selected according to our preferences;
Search, a powerful search engine for apps that may not be in the Huawei App Gallery;
Personal, where in addition to information on our profile, we also find the list of our apps to update.
You can also take a look to this video I’ve creaed (link https://www.youtube.com/*?v=txDQ4Ng8FI4 ):
The first menu, "For you" (the icon is a blue circle with a diagonal ring, reminiscent of a browser icon), is a News Feed features for our account based on searches and preferences; is supported by Microsoft News.
The second menu, "Search" (the icon is the classic magnifying glass) is a search key that goes far beyond the simple App search. As soon as we select "Search", the string to search for apps opens by default and a list of suggested, best and recommended apps, as well as the history with the latest searches. But thanks to the power of this service, we can search for anything of our interest by selecting from the following choices:
Web, thanks to the Qwant search engine which offers a wide selection of options and details;
Applications, therefore as if it were a normal app store;
News, selecting them from the main online publications;
Images and Videos.
The third menu, "Personal" (the blue icon is a stick man) deals with personal information such as search history, incognito mode, downloads, settings, comments and version information of Petal Search. In this section you can see that we have logged in with our account and by clicking on our avatar you enter the Huawei ID Account Center.
Petal Search - Find Apps
Petal Search is equipped with an extremely convenient widget, which can be inserted on the home of our smartphone. In this way we could use the search bar both to find the apps we want or those within our device, but also to carry out a more extensive search thanks to the Qwant search engine.
How to insert the Petal Search widget? It's that simple. As with all widgets, position yourself on a free home screen, “pinch” with two fingers and you will see the settings for the screens appear. At the bottom, select "Widget" and scrolling through the list, enter the Petal Search one in the home screen you have selected.
Does Petal Search work on all devices?
I feel like saying yes. I installed it and it works on:
Honor 9 with Android 8.0 (of course with GMS);
Honor 9X PRO with Android 9.1 (naturally without GMS but only with HMS);
Honor 20i with Android 10.0 (the Asian version of Honor 20lite, but without the GMS).
Petal Search: is it worth downloading and using?
For a smartphone with only HMS, I highly recommend it and I would say almost total use, alongside only the App Gallery (which being the official Huawei app guarantees security). In this way, you can forget about the various Pure APKs, Amazon App Store, APK Monk, Aurora Store etc ... as Petal Search will go and catch your searched app in the appropriate store. As for the news feed, I don't make a great use of it in general, but it can be handy if you want to quickly consult some news dedicated to you.
For a smartphone with GMS, it can be a redundancy to the Google Play Store, generating update notifications or double downloads as the two platforms may not communicate completely.
I just have to advise you to use Petal Search to fully enjoy the features of your smartphones equipped with HMS. And remember, Petal Search is not a simple additional tool, but a global user experience.
