On App Gallery suspicious apps have been removed and "Child" mode is launched
Huawei found 494 suspicious apps on the AppGallery in August and simultaneously it launched "Child" mode
In August, Huawei conducted a special test on the Huawei AppGallery, reviewing ten thousand apps in the education category. At the same time, it launched Child mode for Huawei accounts to provide a more complete user experience.
Speaking of the app audit, Huawei found around 494 suspicious apps on the AppGallery that were creating disturbances. Notably, around 24% of apps are for advertising issues including frequent pop-ups, or crash when trying to log in. According to the report, this special test covered 10 secondary files such as language translation, English, exam preparation, grammar correction, voice listening, book reading and so on. Failed apps did not provide a smooth app experience to users.
Taking rigorous action, Huawei removed some of these apps from the AppGallery and informed the developers to change them. Also, the rest of the developers are asked to make doable fixes as soon as possible. Otherwise, their apps will not be listed by the app distribution platform.
In addition to testing 494 suspicious apps on the AppGallery, Huawei also introduced the "Child" mode, to provide the youngest with useful content corresponding to their age. From now on, Huawei account holders can add an additional account for their children which will not allow them to view or open any sensitive content.
Although users in "Child" mode can browse and use smartphones or tablets regularly, they cannot access inappropriate information. Also, they cannot participate on the forums with their comments and posts.
To put it more simply, it is a content filter mode designed especially for children and prevents them from encountering unsuitable content.
To date, all HONOR smartphones in circulation in the Global market still contain Huawei AppGallery and it seemed right to inform the HONOR Global Community.
