HONOR MagicBook X14 moves from Windows 10 to Windows 11

Not very fast but intuitive settings: with a step-by-step Windows guide it is impossible to go wrong

Yesterday evening was dedicated to the first configurations on the brand new HONOR MagicBook X14 that a friend of mine bought. Ordered on the evening of Tuesday 28 December, it arrived via DHL on the morning of Monday 4 January, respecting those 3-4 working days from the approval of the order to delivery.

HONOR MagicBook X14, like all other HONOR laptops, already comes with a working license of Windows 10 Home.

Stylistically it is very similar to the MagicBook 14 I have, this MagicBook X14 has the darker body and keyboard in its Space Gray version.

It built a 10th generation Intel i5 processor (Intel® Core ™ i5-10210U), even if there are those who don't like it and prefer the AMD Ryzen 5; it is equipped with 8GB of ram and 512GB of physical memory with an SSD drive.

At the first start, the usual Windows 10 configurations start, such as entering the account, requests for sharing data to Windows and profiling preferences. Then configuration of the fingerprint on the power key, which acts as a system unlocking system instead of the classic password. It is also possible to set a safety pin. If you don't have a Microsoft account (with mail outlook, hotmail, MSN), you can still set up a login with any other mail.

With the first desktop screen visible, you can start updating the drivers and BIOS via PC Manager.

Then the latest available Windows 10 updates will be installed which then allow the transition to Windows 11. This is a long process, both for download and for installations, which required several confirmation reboots and over 2 hours of patience.

There are no unnecessary pre-installed programs inside the HONOR MagicBook X14. You can join the Office 365 trial month by subscribing with a credit card.

We also installed Adobe Reader, 7zip and OpenOffice. Autocad 2016 will be installed later.
