Front/Rear/Side Mounted vs In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
What's Your Preference?
Greeting Honor Fans,
Smartphone security is the key thing for every user and every user focuses on this feature while buying a smartphone. Smartphones provide several different security methods to keep their personal device and data safe. But this time I am talking about the Fingerprint Sensor used for device and data security. Fingerprint ids creates a hype when it was first used as a security option in smartphones. No, doubt that everyone loves this security option. But, with the advancement of technological world Fingerprint sensors are also advanced and were embedded in smartphones in several different ways with extended functionalities.
Honor in this regard also provided Fingerprint sensors in their devices form their mid-range to flagship level. Let’s have a look at in how many ways Honor embedded Fingerprint Sensors in their smartphones.
1. Front Mounted Fingerprint Sensor
Honor used the font mounted fingerprint sensors in several devices like Honor 9, Honor View 10, Honor 10. All these devices were higher end. Though Honor extended its functionality from only device unlocking to Navigation, scrolling and so on.
2. Rear Mounted Fingerprint Sensor
Honor used the rear mounted fingerprint sensors in most of its devices like Honor 8, 8 Lite, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 8X, 9X(Global), Honor 10 Lite, Honor 8C, Honor View 20 and so on. Its one the most convenient placement of Fingerprint sensor in my opinions. Also, it’s not only limited to unlock device. It performs several other functions like scroll down notification panel by swiping finger on the sensor. In gallery you can scroll images as well. Access Safe and App Lock.
3. Side Mounted Fingerprint Sensor
Honor used the side mounted fingerprint sensors in its few devices like Honor 20, 20 Pro, Honor 9X Pro and Honor V30 Pro. It’s the second most convenient placement of Fingerprint sensor in my opinion. Also, its functionality is not only limited to unlock device. However, in my testing of Honor 20 Pro the side mounted seems more faster in unlocking device than Rear mounted.
4. In Display Fingerprint Sensor
Honor in its recent launch of Honor 30 Series introduces In-Display Biometric technology. Keep this thing in mind that for In-Display Fingerprint technology AMOLED display panels are must. As it can only be used with AMOLED and OLED panels. Not getting into the details that why this sensor can only be used with OLED panels.
I would like to know that which fingerprint placement you prefer?
Front/Rear/Side Mounted vs In-Display?
Thank You
