HONOR has launched the HONOR X8 device last month globally and thankfully I got hold of this phone. Thank you so much @Ella and HONOR team for arranging it for me. It's really an amazing device. HONOR combined so many flagship level features in it with great value. You don't have to compromise on any aspects. From its HONOR RAM Turbo technology to its 64 MP quad camera, there's a lot to like.
So without further ado, let me unbox it first.
Box Contents :
As it's a review unit, I only got the HONOR X8 Smartphone (6GB + 128 GB), a 22.5W power adapter and a USB Type-C cable but aside from these, you will also have a SIM Ejector tool, a protective case and a earphone inside the (selling unit) box.
Design and Display :
Heading onto the backside first, the design and camera module is really noticeable. Without touching it, you'd think it's made out of glass. Actually It's all made of plastic but feels so premium on hand. The phone is light at just 177 g and very slim which make it look very elegant.
It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor which is placed with the power button on the right side. There is a volume button just above the power button. On the left side, you will find the SIM tray. On the top, we have a speaker (for phone call) and a secondary microphone where the primary microphone, loudspeaker grill , USB Type C port, and 3.5 mm audio jack are all located at the bottom part.
At the front, there a punch hole selfie camera right in the centre of the top portion of the display.
Now talking about display quality,it's really amazing. If you never mouth-watered by seeing the display of a phone, this phone will make you to. It features a 6.7-inch FullView display with 1.1 mm super narrow bezel that is large enough to enjoy gaming and video watching. The display shows punchy colours and accurate tones and it's also bright enough to be legible in direct sunlight. You will love watching movies and browsing photos on this phone and the 90 Hz refresh rate makes every movement in scrolling more enjoyable. It also comes with TÜV Rheinland certified eye protection features which can efficiently reduce blue light and adjust the screen to warmer colours to reduce eye strain. The eBook mode is also really very helpful to improve your sleep if you read e-books right before bed.
Camera :
The HONOR X8 has a quad camera setup on the back - 64 MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, 5 MP super wide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, 2M sensing macro camera with f/2.4 aperture and a depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
For selfie, there is a single 16 MP sensor that has an f/2.45 aperture.
The main camera captures most natural photos with accurate colours and clarity. It takes very less time to focus on the subject in auto mode. I was impressed by how well it captured photos in auto mode itself. You don't have to use the Pro mode to capture like a pro. Well, I don't want to elongate the post much . I will make a detailed review post on camera later.
Here are some photos captured with HONOR X8 main camera (Unedited) -
Battery and Charging :
The HONOR X8 houses a 4000 mAh long lasting battery, which easily lasts for around a day on a single charge with normal tasks like phone calls and messages. It supports 22.5 W HONOR SuperCharge technology, which can top up the device by 50% in just 34 minutes. So you can rapidly power up the device to enjoy your all kind of activities throughout the day.
Performance :
The phone is powered by the 6nm powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. Whether you are a moderate or heavy user, it won't struggle in performance hungry tasks. I tried a few games like CarX Highway Racing, Asphalt 9 but didn't notice any sluggishness in this phone. It didn't not even heat up much while using for long hours. The HONOR X8 runs on Android 11 based on MagicUI 4.2. I appreciate the presence of HONOR RAM Turbo technology. The total effective RAM can be increased to 8GB (6GB+2GB)which allows to open multiple applications simultaneously and keep them running in the background without compromising on efficiency. It takes the experience of using the device to another level.
So in my opinion, it would be the best choice in this affordable segment because it not only looks good, it also performs great and the camera outcomes are stunning as well. What's your take on this phone? Let me know in the comment section.
**Thank you**
