The HONOR * GS pro from HONOR Huawei was released on 4th September 2020 at the IFA Berlin. This smartwatch priced at £ 249.99 in the UK features a rugged design, aiming mainly for outdoor explore use. It’s equipped with a 1.39-inch AMOLED round screen, a 25-day long-lasting battery, more than 100 workout modes, and could resist 50 meters deep water. Two colors, Charcoal Black and Marl White are available.

Basic operating Tutorial

To start with, to use the HONOR * GS pro, you need to pair it with your smartphone. Whatever you use, download, and install the Huawei Health App on your phone first. This is the app used to manage the smartwatch.

Two buttons could be found on the HONOR * GS pro. The up button is the function button, while the other one could be customized to access the most frequently used feature.

1. Swipe down the screen to get do not disturb, show time, find phone, alarm, and settings.

2. Swipe up the screen to get notifications

3. Swipe to the left or right side from the home to get features including heart rate tracking, stress tracking, weather, music control, and step count.

Or you could also swipe to the right to get back to the former page. For example, you press settings after you swipe down the screen, then press the system to the next page. And if you wipe to the right, you will go back to the system page.

4. Customizing down button is allowed. You could set up the down button to access which feature you use the most.

How to pair your HONOR * GS pro with your smartphone?

Step one:

Download and install the Huawei Health App on your phone. If you use an android phone, download from the Huawei AppGallery or google play store. If you use an iPhone, download from the App Store.

Step two:

Open the Huawei health App. Go to Devices then click “add” or “+” on that page.

Step three:

Then select “smartwatches” and find the model of your *. On that page, you could see a “pair” icon.

The name of your smartwatch will appear on the screen. Find that name on the phone in the next screen searching the result list to initiate the pairing process.

You will need to touch the “check” mark to approve the pairing request on the screen of your HONOR * GS pro.

Note:

If your HONOR * GS pro is paired with another smartphone already, on the * please swipe down the screen to find settings-----system-----disconnect before you pair it with another phone.

How to set up an alarm on HONOR HONOR * GS pro?

There are two options to set up an alarm on the HONOR * GS pro, from the screen directly or via the Huawei Health App.

Option one:

On the screen of the HONOR * GS pro, find the “alarm” icon. Normally you can swipe down the screen to find the “alarm” icon. Touch that icon and on the next screen, you could set up a new alarm or turn off/edit/delete an existing alarm. The main alarm also named smart alarm could not be deleted, but only edited or turned off.

Or you can press the up button then find “alarm” on the screen.

Option two:

Firstly open the Huawei Health app on your phone and go to “devices” and make sure your HONOR * GS pro is connected to the phone already.

Secondly, touch “alarm” after you touch your *’s name. Then on the next page, you could see two kinds of alarms, Smart Alarm and event Alarm. The smart alarm could not be deleted, but only edited or turned on/off. You can set up a new event alarm, then edit/delete it or turn it on/off.

How to customize the * face of your HONOR * GS pro?

Set up photos as new * face via the Huawei Health app:

For HONOR * GS pro, it’s allowed to set up photos stored on the phone as * faces.

Open the Huawei Health app on your phone, and go to the device then find the name of your HONOR * GS pro. Touch “more” beside * faces, and switch to “Me”. Then find “Gallery” and press that.

On the next page, you will be able to add photos from the photo gallery of your phone. Click “style” and “layout” to choose how you want the new * face to look like. Save it. And if you choose gallery as the * face from the screen of your *, then the new * faces will appear at the screen.

Change * face on the screen:

To customize the * face, when the screen is on, simply press it for about 2 to 3 seconds until when you feel the vibration of the HONOR * GS pro.

Then on the screen, you could swipe to the left or right side to change * faces. If you select Gallery then the new * faces created from photos will be displayed.

How to enable health monitoring including continuous heart rate, activity reminder, sleep tracking, stress level, and SoP2 on the HONOR * GS pro?

Step one:

Make sure your HONOR * GS pro and phone are connected. Then open the Huawei health app on your phone.

Step two:

Find and hit “Health Monitoring”. From the next page, you could enable/disable sleep tracking, stress monitoring, continuous heart rate monitoring, and activity reminder.

For the SoP2 feature, press the function button and find SpO2.

How to get WhatsApp messages, Facebook messages, and other notifications on my HONOR * GS pro?

Step one:

Connect the HONOR * GS Pro to your phone. Then open the Huawei Health app, go to the device and click on the name of your *.

Step two:

Find “Notification” and enable that and check the apps for which you want to receive a notification on the smartwatch.

How to find phone using the HONOR * GS pro?

Step one:

Firstly you need to activate the screen by press physical buttons.

Step two:

Swipe down the screen to get “Find Phone”. Or you can press the up button and find “Find Phone”.

Touch that on the screen. If your smartphone is still connected to the * or band, the phone itself will play to ringtone (even if the phone is in silent mode) notifying you of its location.

Note: To use this, the smartphone and the HONOR * GS pro should be connected. Or it won’t work.

How to use a remote photo shooting function on my HONOR * GS pro?

Step one:

Make sure your phone is connected via Bluetooth to the HONOR * GS pro.

Step two:

Press the up button on the right side of the HONOR * GS pro. Find “remote shutter” and touch that. The camera of your phone will be initiated and you will be able to touch the camera icon on the screen of the HONOR * GS pro to take a photo from the phone.

If you use this feature for the first time, and the camera of your phone is not initiated, simply open the camera of the phone.

How to answer a phone call on my HONOR * GS pro?

Answering a phone call is supported on HONOR * GS pro and setting up is not required to use this function. However, this only works when the HONOR * GS pro is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. When you receive a call, the smartwatch will vibrate and display the caller’s number and name. You can decide to answer or reject that call.

Is it possible to initiate a call from the HONOR * GS pro to others?

Initiating a call is supported by the HONOR * GS pro. Firstly open the Huawei Health app and go to the device—your *.

Click on manage music and the little “+ add songs” icon on the bottom left. Then select the songs that you want to store in the HONOR * GS pro and confirm it by hitting the checkmark on the top right corner.

Step three:

The songs will be transferred to the HONOR * GS pro. When it’s finished, press the up button and find “Music”. On the screen, in the top left corner, if you see a * icon, you could start music from the smartwatch directly. If you see a phone icon there, just click the three dots icon on the down right corner and choose * instead.

To control music stored on the phone from HONOR * GS pro:

Step one:

Make sure the phone and smartwatch are connected. Then open any music app on the phone. If it’s the first time you use this feature, open the Huawei Health app, then find the name of the * and click on “music” to enable “Control Phone Music”

Step two:

Activate the screen of your smartwatch. Press the up button again and go to “music”. Make sure what’s displayed on the top left corner of the screen is a phone icon. If it’s a * icon, click the three dots on the down right corner and choose phone instead.

Then you could control music stored on the phone and in this case, the sound will be from the phone itself.

The music feature is only allowed with an Android operating system.
