Andrea Galeazzi has reviewed HONOR MagicBook 16, the perfect laptop for your multimedia contents
Reliability, "HONOR" price with promotions and a good AMD processor are just some of the strengths of the new HONOR PC
This is no longer a novelty, HONOR PCs have always been reliable and competitive and this Magicbook 16 is no exception. With a large, excellent display and good performance thanks to its Ryzen 5 it becomes perfect for the most varied uses and for the enjoyment of multimedia content. The price? This time he got up a little bit but it can be fixed!
Let's start from the construction and find a body that is made of metal, I appreciated the possibility of having the rear panel that can be easily opened, the dimensions are 368 x 236 x 18.2 mm and the weight of 1.86 kilograms.
The equipment of doors consists of:
2X USB-C,
2X USB-A,
1X 3.5mm jack,
1X HDMI.
The display is a 16.1 ″ FHD IPS semi-opaque with 16: 9 aspect ratio, pixel density of 137 PPI and a refresh rate of 144Hz. Too bad the brightness sensor is missing but apart from this it is a nice panel, not super defined but with good contrasts and viewing angles. Ideal for enjoying multimedia content given its size and format.
The processor comes from AMD, we are talking about the Ryzen 5 5600H with integrated Radeon GPU, 512GB of very fast NVMe SSD and 16GB of Samsung LPDDR4 RAM at 3.2GHz.
The keyboard has a good feed a fair stroke, in short, I liked it and I liked it even more when I discovered how to keep the backlight always on! Just go to the PC manager, then to the system settings and here is the way. The trackpad is also good but a bit too noisy.
The audio is good, but given the space available in a body of this size, I would have preferred a speaker that is a little more powerful and above all with more full-bodied bass.
The battery is a 56 Wh with a 65W charge, ie from 0 to 100 in about an hour and the 65W power supply is included in the package. As for the autonomy, I had very variable results because with office, mail, light use you can do 6 or 7 hours while as soon as you use the GPU and render the autonomy drops drastically to a couple of hours.
Okay but how much does it cost? The price list would be 1,039 euros but which are discounted at a basic price of 999 euros and for these launch days at 899 euros. Plus there are coupons with additional discounts and free gadgets on purchase.
In conclusion, it is a perfect PC for generalist use, for those who have to do a little bit of everything, perhaps internet, office, email and even occasionally a few game sessions or video editing, which do not represent its ideal use but are however possible. Obviously it is not designed for extreme mobility given its weight and dimensions, which are not exaggerated anyway!
