I couldn't even blend it with scary super editing
Powerful and ventilated, the HONOR MagicBook 16 does not fear 4K video editing
HONOR MagicBook 16: video editing
HONOR introduced us to this MagicBook 16 as a powerful laptop suitables also for gaming, and capables of withstanding high work intensities. So I put it to the test by feeding it 4K video files shot with my HONOR 50. Result: digested great!

HONOR MagicBook 16: workflow for video editing
I remember having edited my first holiday home movie when there were still cameras with tapes, it was the early 2000s. I also created the movie start menu with the division into scenes and then exported to DVD. Virtually every minute of the starting files or final video was a half hour of upload or export.
Everything is much smarter now. With the Multiscreen Collaboration, in a couple of minutes I imported almost 600Mb of video files in 4K from HONOR 50 to HONOR MagicBook 16: just a simple drag and drop, with a possible tutorial that shows us how to do it.
The opening of the DaVinci Resolve 16 program is not very fast, I still believe it is not well optimized for Windows 11 or for AMD processors, on the web I have found conflicting opinions.
First I imported the video clips, photos and audio track of interest into the DaVinci Resolve media pool, then aligned the various media in the timeline. I performed the appropriate cut and stitch, inserting the video transitions both manually (by overlapping tracks) and with automatic presets. I inserted the audio track that I modified according to the scenes, with some volume shades.
I did not perform color grading: I never understood if it should be done in bulk on the original clips or managed for each individual clip after editing in the timeline. In any case, I did not feel the need. I have not entered any titles or subtitles.
I exported the video at its original 4K quality (with an automatic downscale from 30fps to 24fps) resulting in a file of around 12Gb. Then I uploaded it to Youtube in which I also added a custom cover created through Canva during the upload phase.
Is HONOR MagicBook 16 suitable for video editing?
Premise: I used Windows 11 for the first time on this HONOR MagicBook 16 and I noticed some very small bugs or graphic and formal imperfections (but in case I'll talk about them later).
DaVinci Resolve version 17, in any release, is not compatible, so I opted for the latest release of DaVinci Resolve version 16.
Video editing, in all its parts, is fluid and enjoyable. The 16.1-inch display is very bright and the 144Hz refresh rate help to have smooth movements; the FullHD resolution, however, limits its potential. Spearhead the Color Gamut 100% sRGB which I really appreciate for maintaining color fidelity.
The video card is put in crisis during the editing phase, with a zoom on the video track to preview the transitions: in this case the preview lags or skips the frames. The problem is not found by decreasing the zoom on the video track, returning a homogeneous preview.
The processor is brought to the extreme of its 3.3GHz only when rendering the file in 4K (but also in FullHD). During those minutes you have the saturation of the computing power, but not the saturation of the ram and the video card practically does not do any work. In my opinion it is thanks to the ram that in a quarter of an hour I exported 1min of 12Gb video!
The touchpad has a smooth but not very large surface, with the right sensitivity; the left and right keys do not have a sensorial or visual reference and for some it may be difficult to get used to.
The temperatures skyrocket, especially in the processor which exceeded 70 ° C (standard working value at around 40 ° C): the fans performed their task by never making the processor reach the maximum temperature reported at 105 ° C. The dual-fan cooling system operated at maximum power only during the rendering phase; during the work it was very discreet and silent.
Final evaluations on heavy use of HONOR MagicBook 16
This new laptop from HONOR can be used without problems for amateur video editing, that is, whenever we want to create videos by taking care of the details, frame by frame, clips and sound. HONOR MagicBook 16 is compatible with video editing or with stressful intensive use such as editing and exporting large 4K video files. Given its general consumer use, the HONOR MagicBook 16 can be recommended for amateur video editing.
If you want to use HONOR MagicBook 16 intensively, I recommend connecting it to the power outlet, thus taking advantage of the Performance Mode that can be activated with the Fn + P key combination.
