Yesterday DXO published the audio note for the HONOR Magic 4 Pro, this audio test covers both the speakers of the HONOR Magic 4 Pro and the microphones present on the latter.

First of all, it should be noted that the HONOR Magic 4 Pro has a top front speaker and one on the bottom side, it has no jack, supports DTS:X sound effects as well as zoom audio.

In content playback, the HONOR Magic 4 Pro scores 135, DXO notes the following positives:

Pleasant medium.
Good attack rendering and clean transients.
Good overall spatial performance.

And the following negatives:

Thin tonal balance, with a lack of low-end extension and high-end extension.
The minimum volume step could be refined, as it is too quiet.
Lack of depth due to fine tonal balance.

In terms of recording content, it gets a score of 143, with positive points:

Good overall performance in all attributes.
Good audio zoom features.
Especially shines in high SPL scenarios.

And finally as negative points:

Tonal balance too dependent on use case and lacking consistency.
In selfie video, noise reduction algorithms induce artifacts like phasing.

All this places the HONOR Magic 4 Pro in 19 places of all smartphones tested by DXO and in 10 places of ultra premium smartphones at more than 900€.
