Hi everyone! In the last few weeks I've been using the new bluetooth earphones from Honor: Earbuds 2 Lite. So I thought I would share my first impressions here.
Let's start with what the box tells us, there are three main points: 32 hours of playtime, active noise cancellation and up to 4 hours of playback with 10 minutes of charging.
What's in the box: a pair of earphones, a charging case, a usb to usb-C cable and three pairs of ear tips (the medium size is already on the earphones, plus two other pairs in large and small size).
Aesthetically, the product looks nice, case and earphones look pretty, the lines and curves are sleek, the material is pleasant to the touch and it seems resistant to dirt, design-wise this product played it safe as aesthetically they can easily remind us of similar products starting from some very famous ones made by company located in Cupertino.
The charging case has a small front LED that indicates the status of the earphones: connection status, charging status, pairing mode (white led flashing) and so on. To pair the earphones the charging case has a button on the side, holding it down for more than two seconds enters pairing mode and it is possible to pair the earphones to our device.
Let's now briefly look at some of the technical specifications:
Bluetooth v.: 5.2
Driver size: 10mm
Single earphone weight: 5.5 grams. Case weight: 41 grams.
Playtime: 10 hours *
The playtime is based (quite commonly, I believe) on listening to music at medium volume. Keeping the noise cancellation or awareness mode activated or using the earphones to make phone calls (or, even more so, making phone calls with noise cancellation activated) will drain the battery faster.
The controls are handled via double tap or long press on the earphones. The default commands are play / pause (or answer the call) with double tap, long press for a couple of seconds activates the noise cancellation, or awareness or deactivates both.
You can customize the commands associated with the controls via the app, by associating the double tap on the right or left earphone with other functions such as playing the next or previous song or using the voice assistant.
Not that they work badly or are unresponsive, quite the contrary, I'm just not a big fan of this type of controls, so to test the noise cancellation and awareness functions I used the app on the phone while to control playback and music volume I generally use the controls on the Honor band.
However, I found the APP user friendly and clean, it does its job well, I have seen around that other apps for similar products also offer additional functions (I'm not an audio expert so I don't know in the end how much useful they really are) such as fit test for the earphones and the possibility to adjust the equalization based on the sounds we perceive or not. I wonder if it will be possible to add such functions to the APP and in case I would be pleased.
Having said that, I'll add a few more opinions based on these first weeks of use.
Pairing is simple and fast also thanks to the physical side button on the case. I have tried them with multiple smartphones and with a laptop and the pairing has always been quick and painless.
In addition to listening to music, I briefly tried them with youtube videos and video games on the computer and I didn't notice any lag whatsoever. Honor says that with the smartphones of their brand in case of video playback or video games, the headphones have a specific low latency mode that guarantees the absence of lag.
Regarding the comfort, the headphones are certainly light and once you get used to them, you hardly feel them. Perhaps also thanks to the lightness, it seems like they stay firmly in place and can withstand jumps, runs and somersaults (the latter is just an hypothesis) without moving from their place.
[Oh, also a small note on the noise cancelling (it's one of the three features on the box, after all!), personally I didn't use it much. I tested it when I got the earphones, and it's such a cool technology (woah), but I haven't been in really noisy environments and being these in-ear earphones even without ANC I couldn't hear a single thing happening outside when music was playing]
Overall I'm pleased with ease of use and audio quality so I've been more than happy to use the Honor Earbuds 2 Lite and I'll certainly continue to do so in the future.
Hope you found these opinions interesting or of any help. If you have any questions please let me know!
