One of the products that surprised me most during the CES event in ** are undoubtedly the WT2 Plus earphones. A pair of earphones, connected to the smartphone, which allows you to converse in 40 different languages.
How do they work
First of all, to use the WT2 it is necessary to download the appropriate app for Android or iOS - (requirements: Android 7.0 or later - iOS 11.0 or later) - The basic idea is that each of the two interlocutors wears a headset: in this way, you avoid having to use your smartphone continuously and you can chat while maintaining eye contact and body gestures.
From the application it is possible to set one of the three translation modes; each of these requires more or less user interaction, and is designed for particular contexts:
Simultaneous mode: does not require any interaction from users. The earphones automatically understand when the sentence is over and translate to the interlocutor. This mode is suitable for quiet environments and without too much interference
Manual mode: you have to manually specify (with a tap) the beginning and end of the sentence to be translated, so that the earphones know what to listen to. It is the mode that gives less problems and is also suitable for open and crowded places
Loudspeaker mode: one user uses the headset, the other uses the phone's microphones. It is the best way to communicate on the fly with people you don't know (and to whom it would be strange to ask to wear headphones!), Perhaps to ask for directions or order at a restaurant.
It should be clarified that the WT2 Plus earphones only work via the internet connection of the smartphone to which they are connected via Bluetooth. Although the consumption of data is quite low, it is good to consider it if we are in places with poor internet coverage or outside national borders. They can support 36 languages and, in some cases, even different accent variations (on the site there are 84 perhaps including dialects), such as US English or Irish.
Sore point, in my opinion, the price: about 210, but think that incredible pssi forward that the technology is doing, we could attend live (when possible and when @Global_HONOR will officially invite us) to the presentation of a new product by listening directly to the George Zhao words to Shenzen and be able to understand what he is saying!
Unthinkable until 4/5 years ago unless you rely on a troupe of experts.
