HONOR Launches HONOR Magic9 Pro Max in China with an End-to-End Professional Cinema Workflow Co-engineered with ARRI

The flagship marks the latest milestone in HONOR’s Cinematic Imaging Partnership with ARRI, introducing an end-to-end professional cinema workflow co-engineered with ARRI and incorporating selected elements of ARRI Image Science. It marks a defining moment in the Magic Series’ decade-long evolution and makes professional cinematic creation more accessible to everyday creators.

Positioned as a handheld cinema system, HONOR Magic9 Pro Max brings an end-to-end professional cinema workflow into a mobile format, spanning cinema-grade interaction, recording, image quality, color, sound, LiveVideo and creation gear. Its Dual 200MP camera system and self-developed HONOR Imaging Chip H1 work with sensor calibration enhanced by ARRI Image Science, the ARRI LogC3 Curve, 10-bit color depth, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and preset ARRI Looks. Cinematic LiveVideo, the Cinematic Directional Microphone, HONOR Teleconverter G200, HONOR Teleconverter G500 and the HONOR SmallRig Mobile Video Kit extend the creative experience, alongside an all-new design inspired by cinema-camera engineering, the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform and MagicOS 11.

The End-to-End Professional Cinema Workflow Co-engineered with ARRI

At the center of HONOR Magic9 Pro Max is an end-to-end imaging experience developed through HONOR’s Cinematic Imaging Partnership with ARRI. Co-engineered with ARRI, the workflow brings selected elements of ARRI Image Science to capture, color management and real-time preview. The broader mobile workflow combines these capabilities with HONOR’s imaging hardware and processing, professional sound, Cinematic LiveVideo and modular creation tools, creating a more consistent path from the moment light reaches the sensor to the final graded image.

Sensor calibration enhanced by ARRI Image Science works with the ARRI LogC3 Curve, 10-bit color depth and ARRI Wide Gamut 3 to retain more usable highlight, shadow and color information for post-production. In ARRI CINEMA Mode, the system supports recording at up to 4K 60fps, with ARRI Looks available for real-time preview to help creators make more deliberate color choices on set.¹

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max includes 14 preset ARRI Looks, including two established ARRI conversion Looks and 12 stylized Looks. The ARRI Look Library offers 87 predefined creative color gradings, giving creators more options to shape the mood and visual character of their footage.²

Dual 200MP Imaging and HONOR Imaging Chip H1

The workflow is built on Dual 200MP Imaging enhanced by ARRI Image Science. HONOR Magic9 Pro Max features a 200MP Ultra Night Main Camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture, OIS and 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization, paired with a 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto Camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and OIS. Both achieve CIPA 8.0 stabilization performance. A 50MP Ultra-wide Camera with an f/2.0 aperture completes the rear camera system.³

The self-developed HONOR Imaging Chip H1 is built on a 6nm process and delivers 18.8 TOPS/W energy efficiency. Integrated into an imaging pipeline enhanced by ARRI Image Science, it moves AI noise reduction into the RAW domain in real time to preserve more original image information. HONOR test data indicates that the integrated pipeline improves signal-to-noise ratio by 8dB and supports up to 14 stops of cinematic dynamic range, helping retain texture, highlight detail and natural transitions in difficult lighting conditions.⁴

Cinematic Video, LiveVideo, Professional Sound and Creation Tools

ARRI CINEMA Mode⁵ supports up to 4K 60fps recording, giving creators greater flexibility for cinematic capture. Separately, Cinematic LiveVideo⁶ captures a three-second moving moment after the user presses and holds the record button. It supports up to 4K resolution, making it easy to preserve and share a scene with more atmosphere and motion.

Completing the workflow, HONOR Magic9 Pro Max features the Cinematic Directional Microphone, using a four-microphone system for camera recording, together with Stereo Dual 1216 Speakers for monitoring and playback. ARRI CINEMA Mode brings key controls - including resolution, frame rate, shutter, ISO, white balance, focus, lens selection, aspect ratio, stabilization, exposure compensation, audio presets and display mode - into a focused interface.

Extending the workflow beyond the phone, optional cinema-grade creation tools include the HONOR SmallRig Mobile Video Kit, HONOR Teleconverter G200 and HONOR Teleconverter G500. Together, they give creators a more flexible mobile setup for handheld operation, accessory expansion and long-range shooting.⁷

For portraits, the 55MP Square-Format Front Camera works with a 3D Deep Sensing Camera and supports 1:1 capture and flexible cropping for group photos, selfies and vlogs across vertical and horizontal formats.

A New Magic Design Language Inspired by Cinema Heritage

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max introduces the most significant evolution of the Magic Series design language since HONOR Magic3. Drawing inspiration from ARRI’s iconic three-lens turret ARRIFLEX cameras dating back to 1937, the rear camera architecture reinterprets the classic 1+2 layout by organizing the main, telephoto and ultra-wide cameras in a coherent arrangement that reflects the device’s professional imaging purpose.

The raised camera module is positioned to help reduce accidental finger obstruction while shooting. Optimized internal stacking creates space for advanced imaging hardware and a large battery without compromising the device’s thin, lightweight and comfortable form. The All-Metal Unibody Enclosure and Dual Micro-Slit Antenna Design complete the device’s clean, integrated form.

Snapdragon-Powered Performance for Creation and Gaming

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, providing flagship performance for professional video creation, on-device AI and gaming.⁸

For extended creation, the device features an 8,800mAh⁹ Next-Generation HONOR Silicon-carbon Battery, supported by 100W Wired HONOR SuperCharge and 80W Wireless HONOR SuperCharge. The third-generation RF Enhanced Chip HONOR C3 uses a seven-chip RF architecture and intelligent network selection to help maintain stable connectivity in complex and congested network environments.¹⁰

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with Anti-Reflective Coating and the HONOR Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield. MagicOS 11, based on Android 17, advances HONOR’s agentic AI vision with a more proactive YOYO experience. YOYO Memory helps users capture, organize and revisit useful content, while a one-touch Video Highlights function can save a standout moment from video and turn it into a shareable Live clip. MagicOS 11 also expands cross-brand connectivity, including file transfer with supported iOS, macOS, Android and Windows devices.¹² YOYO Tasks can understand user intent and coordinate supported services to complete selected multi-step requests.

HONOR Magic9 Pro Max will be available in China in Shadow Black, Glacier Silver, and Moss Green, with four configurations: 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB. Official sales begin on September 28, starting at RMB 6,499. Regional rollouts across Europe, MEA, SEA and other key international markets will be announced shortly.
