Perform the following to troubleshoot the issue:
1 Merge duplicate contacts
You can perform the following to merge your contacts (excluding those on the SIM cards). Contact merging will combine the contacts with the same name, while multiple numbers will appear under the contact name after the merge.
Open Settings, search for and access Organize contacts, and then touch Merge duplicate contacts.
2 Disable contacts syncing
Some third-party apps (for example, Google and Exchange) may enable contacts syncing by default, so that there are duplicate contacts or contacts without phone numbers.
You can disable contacts syncing in related third-party apps by performing the following:
Go to Sync Contacts.
, select the corresponding app, and disable3 Display only contacts of some accounts
You can also choose to display contacts from certain accounts as needed.
Open Settings, then search for and access Display preferences.
4. Disable the contacts permissions granted to related apps
Apps granted with the contacts permission can read or modify contacts data on your phone. You can cancel the contacts permission for the related apps.
Open Settings, search for and access App permissions, touch Contacts, and turn off the switches next to the related apps.
