[HONOR Watch] Meet my new HONOR Watch GS Pro in Marl White Beige!

I was delighted to discover a package had arrived for me at my address yesterday, and inside, I found what I have been waiting for since IFA 2020; the new HONOR Watch GS Pro in Marl White Beige!

Today, I will be sharing my first impressions of the watch in regards to its overall design, look and feel. Later on, after I have taken the time to properly test out the GS Pro, I will be sharing a more in-depth overview of the watches features, specifications and performance.

A Smartwatch for the Outdoor Explorer

“Dare to Explore” is HONOR’s tagline for the new GS Pro and this is because it is designed for the outdoor and urban adventurer and extreme sports personality. To compliment this design philosophy, HONOR had to develop a smartwatch that held a more durable and rugged outer design in comparison to its predecessor, HONOR MagicWatch 2. Immediately, after unboxing my new HONOR Watch GS Pro, I noticed its more robust and full-bodied exterior, which not only looks great but feels equally as good.

What to expect in the box?

One of the first things you will notice when you get your hands on a new HONOR Watch GS Pro is the black packaging with matte details that resemble outdoor terrain. Straight away you get the feeling that this truly is an outdoor performance smartwatch. Inside the box, you will find the HONOR Watch GS Pro in your chosen colour alongside a charger, a warranty card and a quick stat guide. Smartwatch Colorways - Marl White Beige

Usually when it comes to choosing tech gadgets, I like to stick to an all-black look as you rarely go wrong with black. However, when it came to the HONOR Watch GS Pro, I decided to go for the more unusual Marl White Beige over the Charcoal Black and Camo Blue. Overall I love the colorway! Marl White Beige is essentially a cross between an “off-white” and a grey/beige color-scheme, which gives the smartwatch a truly unique and modern touch. If the colorway was any lighter I would be nervous about getting it dirty while using it in the outdoors but thankfully because of its tone that won’t be an issue (unless you get caught in a mud slide!).

Sizing, Display and Wrist Feel

Personally, I have fairly skinny wrists and therefore, traditionally, I have usually prefer smartwatches that have a slimmer body and smaller watch face. I was slightly surprised at the feel and look of the HONOR Watch GS Pro, which despite having a display size of 1.39 inches, still fits extremely comfortably on my wrist. This might be down to the fact that the GS Pro has a weight of only 45.5g, which again is surprising considering that the body combines glass and a stainless steel bezel ring on its watch front. As soon as you turn the HONOR Watch GS Pro on for the first time, you notice the clarity and sharpness of the display, which is a 1.39 inch AMOLED touchscreen with 454 x 454 pixels. The colours really stand out, which is essential if you are using the smartwatch in harsh conditions in the outdoors. Perhaps the biggest difference on the watches exterior in comparisons to the MagicWatch 2 is the two steel dials on the right side of the watch display that enable you to control and navigate through the devices many features. These dials are practical as well as adding to the overall look of the watch.

Installation and Set Up

After equipping the smartwatch onto your wrist, your are going to want to get it set up so that you can start to use all of its incredible features. Firstly, you will choose your language and then be asked to pair it with the Huawei Health App on your smartphone. You can find out more about the Huawei Health App HERE. Once you have downloaded Huawei Health, you can pair it via Bluetooth to your GS Pro from the device list in the Huawei Heath app. Once you have done this you are ready to use your HONOR Watch GS Pro and set off on your next adventure!

My first impressions of HONOR Watch GS Pro are strong with a few unexpected positive surprises. Aesthetically it looks and feel quality, while on your wrist it sits comfortably and light. However, ultimately the HONOR Watch GS Pro will be rated on its overall performance and internals as an outdoor watch. I can’t wait to start testing out features such as the multiple health monitors, the 100+ workout modes, the 25 days of battery life, its outdoor specific features and more! I will make sure to keep you informed about the watches internals after I have sufficiently tested it.
