Although today's smartphones have increasingly large storage capacity, there are times when we still need to transfer files from our phone to our computer. Read on to find out how to transfer files between your smartphone and Windows.
The most direct and most convenient way to transfer data between your phone and your computer is through a USB cable.
Select USB connection mode
You can use a USB cable to connect your HONOR 8X to the computer or another device. A "Use USB for" box will appear on your phone once it's connected with the computer.
Touch charge only. Swipe down the status bar to open the notification panel. Touch Charging via USB to select USB connection method.
Charge only: Use the USB connection to only charge your phone.
Transfer files: Transfer files between your computer and phone.
Transfer photos: Transfer photos between your computer and phone. If your computer doesn't support MTP, you can use PTP to transfer photos and files between your computer and phone.
Reverse charging: Connect your phone to another device using a USB Type-C cable to charge the other device.
MIDI: Use your phone as a MIDI input device and then play music on your computer.
Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable for transferring data and performing other tasks
Transfer files: MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) allows you to transfer media files. You can use it to transfer files between your computer and phone. Before using MTP to transfer files, make sure Windows Media Player 11 or later is installed on your computer.
Swipe down the status bar to open the notification panel. And set your USB connection method to Transfer files. Your computer will then automatically install the required drivers. On Windows, open the drive that is named after your phone's model to browse files stored on your phone. Alternatively, you can browse multimedia content on your phone using Windows Media Player.
Transfer photos: PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) allows you to transfer images. Using it makes data transfer between your phone and computer more convenient.
Swipe down the status bar to open the notification panel. And set your USB connection method to Transfer photos. Your computer will then automatically install the required drivers. On Windows, open the drive that is named after your phone's model to browse images stored on your phone.
