Based on feedback on my point form review of Honor 9A, seems many enjoy it. So today, I will present the point form review of.. The Emerald Green Honor 9X Lite.

Ergonomics
Size and weight feels alright. Not too big and not too small. It’s quite light, especially when compared to the newer phones that have big screens.
Reflective Emerald Green back is plain (no patterns) but nice.
A bit slippery without the phone case.
The phone is thin, making the camera bump really big and obvious.
From website: 160.4 mm (H) x 76.6 mm (W) x 8.0 mm (D) & 188g

Kinda huge and high bump...
Display
The Full HD 6.5” screen is nice.
Colours appear crisp and clear. This means movies and photos do not look dull.
The notch though.. It is very distracting, especially when you watch movies.
Camera
Like most modern smartphone cameras, it takes decent photos. Check out the sample shots below.
Lots of features and options in the camera apps for both rear and front camera.
There is the AI mode which you can toggle ON/ OFF.
There is also the AR lens feature – making photography fun.
Video recording can go up to 1080p (30fps) and the phone does not feel like it is struggling when taking 1080p videos.
Selfie is at 8MP, whereas rear camera can go from recommended 12MP all the way to 48MP (without AI mode).

Battery
The Honor 9X Lite feels lacking compared to other newer phones that pack bigger battery. The Honor 9X Lite comes with only 3750mAh battery. Most phones now have 4000mAh battery. Even though it is just 250mAh difference, it feels like the % drops faster.
Still, the battery can last a day on average use.
No issues watching videos for long hours. But if gaming for long hours, be prepared to have to charge before end of the day.
Performance
Although Honor 9X Lite is equipped with relatively old processor (Kirin 710), it is still a very good processor, making this a good phone.
Processor is similar to the one on the Honor 9X (https://www.digit.in/features/mobile-phones/is-the-kirin-710f-in-the-honor-9x-any-different-from-the-kirin-710-51873.html).
No issues playing the more intensive games like Asphalt 9, Mobile Legends and Arena of Valor (but locked at 30fps).
Apps availability
It comes with Google Play. Enough said.
Misc
I like the Bedtime mode which turns the screen black & white at designated time. Besides reminding you to go to bed, black & white screen supposedly won’t cause your body to stay wide awake.
The LED notification light! Great thing to have, but lacking the option to customize it.
Separate slot for microSD card! The SIM tray comes with 2 slots of SIM card and 1 separate slot for microSD.
AI function in Gallery. You can toggle it ON/ OFF so you can see the different with and without AI. Sadly, this is something that Honor no longer implement in latest EMUI.
The phone comes with microUSB instead of Type-C USB.
Summary
A good all-rounder phone – affordable, good processor, good camera and ample storage with microSD support.
