The camera of HONOR 8X incorporates quite a few interesting features such as a dual-lens system and Huawei's popular night mode. More importantly, it also comes with Huawei's AI camera algorithms to help you shoot smart. In short, HONOR 8X is a great value for money.
In this article, we will get to see how to get the most out of HONOR 8X camera using these tips and tricks.
The AI mode has the capacity to recognize up to almost 500 different scenes. It does make the shots look powerful with high contrast and saturation levels.
All you need to do is tap on the AI button and take a shot. However, don't get too excited about this mode. The AI mode can sometimes make a photo look unnatural.
To get more natural photos with a balanced color reproduction, it's best to take photos in the default photo mode and then edit them later using photo-editing software.
You can actually switch between the normal mode and the AI mode in gallery. Just tap on the AI button at the top-right corner, and you can see the effects. Unfortunately, the device doesn't have a built-in method to save the photo captured in the Normal Mode. Luckily, there's an effective workaround.
Open the photo in Gallery and have the AI mode disabled. Then, via email, you can share the photo. You are able to save the image to your phone's gallery later.
HONOR 8X features a handy Night mode to capture low light photos. The Pro mode enables you to toy with multiple settings like white balance, focus and exposure. But the only thing you need to worry about in the Night mode is the shutter speed, and the rest is taken care of automatically.
Also, you'll have to hold your phone really still since the camera can take up to 7 seconds to capture a shot. Simply tap the S icon in the lower-left corner and drag the slider to adjust the speed. When finished, tap on the shutter button and wait.
To the left of the AI button, there is a little circular icon with dotted border. This icon can make photos livelier. Instead of producing still images, HONOR 8X's camera captures a few moments before taking the shot. This leads to a moving image, and simultaneously, the still image is saved to the gallery of the phone.
Photos shot with Moving Picture mode is designated by the same circular icon on the gallery. All you need to do is to tap on the icon to activate it.
Unlike most other smartphones, on HONOR 8X, you'd have to manually enable the HDR mode. Although the handset allows for Auto HDR in the AI mode, it doesn't have the same function on the default photo mode.
I really hope that HONOR eventually comes up with an effective option to let users choose which modes they would like to have on the camera interface, something most Samsung phone offer.
With the Face Unlock feature getting triggered even at the slightest movement, sometimes it's pretty hard to launch the camera app. And it can be quite a nuisance when you need to take photos instantly. The Ultra Snapshot mode solves this problem by enabling you to take photos at the snap of a button.
All you need to do is pressing the volume down button twice, and the picture will be instantly captured. This mode can be enabled in the Settings. Also, you can choose to adjust the settings to launch the camera instead.
In addition to the five modes, HONOR 8X also comes with a few additional styles. Among them, the Light Painting mode is worth mentioning. If you are among those who like experimenting with diverse looks and photo effects, you'll love Light Painting.
Light Painting enables you to take long exposure shots with various effects such as Star trails and Traffic trails. The best part of this feature is that you don't need to worry about the exposure or white balance. Simply keep the phone steady or have it secured on top of a tripod to make the most out of this mode.
Everyone loves an easy way to take photos. To add to the above-mentioned features, HONOR 8X also supports an additional feature that enables you to take photos simply by touching the viewfinder.
To have this option enabled, go to Settings and toggle the switch for Touch to capture.
