Certain H.265 videos cannot be played on the pre-installed Windows player

Problem

When playing certain H.265 or HEVC format videos on Movies & TV, the video image disappears or black screens upon zooming in and out or switching to Full-screen mode.

Cause

The playback issue you are experiencing with H.265 or HEVC format videos is caused by a compatibility issue between AMD and Microsoft.

Solution

It is recommended that you use a third-party app that supports H.265 or HEVC video playbacks, such as Potplayer, which can be downloaded from the official Potplayer website (http://www.potplayer.org).
