Hello HONOR Team and Community,
I am a big fan of HONOR’s hardware and design language. Devices like the newer Lite and flagship lineups offer incredible performance for value. However, as an advanced user and tech enthusiast, there is one massive missing feature that stops me and many others from fully embracing the brand: the lack of an official bootloader unlocking mechanism.
Ever since the official unlock code platform was discontinued, power users have had no official, safe route to audit their own device security, develop system tools, or customize their experience.
Other major manufacturers (like Google Pixel and Motorola) still provide clear, official paths to unlock the bootloader for users who want complete control over their hardware. I highly suggest that HONOR considers bringing back a similar program. To address security concerns, HONOR could easily implement safety guardrails, such as:
Requiring an active, verified HONOR ID for at least 30 days before requesting a code.
Limiting the number of code requests per user account to prevent abuse.
Clearly warning users that unlocking resets the device and alters specific security frameworks.
Reintroducing this feature would instantly win back a massive, loyal community of Android developers, Linux enthusiasts, and customizers who currently choose alternative brands solely for software freedom. Giving tech-savvy consumers ownership over their device's long-term lifecycle would create incredible brand trust.
Please pass this feedback along to the MagicOS development and product planning teams!
Thank you.
