Yu Chengdong (Richard Yu), CEO of Huawei's Consumer BG, showcased HUAWEI Scan Kit and Safety Detect at the Huawei Consumer Business Product and Strategy Virtual Launch event. Yu used demo videos to illustrate the functions of Scan Kit, such as its ability to accurately scan barcodes from a distance, regardless of their orientation. Scanning codes is also safer than it has ever been, thanks to powerful Safety Detect capabilities. These functions are not available with GMS Core.
Digital security is a leading concern in the mobile Internet era. It's easy to fall victim to a malicious actor, while enjoying the enormous benefits of convenient services and features, for example, being scammed out of a lot of money after scanning a QR code that redirects you to a fake link. How can one avoid such pitfalls?
The answer is simple: developers just need to integrate HUAWEI Scan Kit and Safety Detect into their apps. Then, when their app is used to scan a QR code containing a malicious link, it will automatically block access to that link.
HUAWEI Scan Kit provides a set of barcode scanning and generating capabilities. These capabilities can be easily integrated into an app, through just five lines of code. Scan Kit leverages Huawei's cutting-edge computer vision technology, when detecting a barcode from a distance, first to magnify the barcode before scanning it. Scan Kit is also capable of scanning a small barcode in the same manner, and accurately scanning barcodes under the most challenging scenarios, such as in a poorly-lit environment, or when the barcode image is reflective, distorted, or blurry. Scan Kit identifies 2D barcodes faster and more accurately than equivalent services.
HUAWEI Safety Detect scans the device environment in which an app is running to make sure it does not contain any threats, such as rooting, and also checks URL links to ensure that they are not malicious. It has an app security check function which developers can use to obtain a list of potentially malicious apps, and identify whether any of these apps are present on the user's phone, with an accuracy rate of 99%. Safety Detect also provides fake user detection for app users, which determines whether the person they are communicating with is a fake user.
