Unable to use the Folio keyboard
Unable to use the Folio keyboard |
You are unable to use the Folio keyboard due to many reasons. Please troubleshoot as follows:
I. There may be an IME switching error
Please try to switch the IME to solve the problem.
To switch the IME, press the Windows key and space key simultaneously.
To switch between Chinese and English, press the Shift key.
II. You may have accidentally enabled Filter Keys
By default, when you press the right Shift key for more than eight seconds, a pop-up message appears asking whether you want to enable Filter Keys. Once you enable this function, you will not able to use the keyboard.
When Filter Keys are enabled, the Windows ignores short or repeated keystrokes. You can also adjust the keyboard repeat rate to avoid accidental keystrokes. This function enables you to set the speed at which you stroke the key on the laptop.
Go to Settings > Auxiliary Function > Keyboard to see whether Filter Keys are enabled. If yes, disable Filter Keys.
III. You may have accidentally enabled Sticky Keys
Once you enable this function, you will no longer have to press complex key combinations. For example, you do not have to press the Ctrl, Alt and Del key simultaneously. Instead, you can press these keys one by one to achieve the same purpose as pressing them simultaneously.
If you have accidentally enabled Sticky Keys, the keyboard will not work properly and input disturbance will occur.
Go to Settings > Auxiliary Function > Keyboard to see whether Sticky Keys are enabled. If yes, disable Sticky Keys.
IV. The user is unable to use the Folio keyboard after he/she starts or restarts the computer. The issue was resolved only after disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard to the laptop. To avoid encountering this issue again, update the hotkey driver and BIOS firmware.
This is applicable only to 2-in-1 laptops.
Steps for updating the hotkey driver and BIOS firmware are as follows:
- Install the BIOS firmware after the following condition is met:
- The current BIOS version is earlier than the version to update to.
- The current battery is greater than 30%.
- Connect the power supply.
- Visit the HONOR official website, select your laptop model, and download and install the hotkey driver and BIOS firmware.
